Black Rock Mountain Lookout Hike near Nordegg Alberta

Want to hike to an old forestry lookout?  Well this is the hike for you.  The Alberta Forest Service built a forest fire lookout on the summit in 1929 which was closed in 1952 and still stands to this day. This is not a easy hike, it seems like it is all uphill!

After surviving the Trans Alta Road (very rough road), and after criss-crossing a few rivers in our truck, we finally arrived at the trailhead at the base of the mountain.  We were ready to start the long climb like they had done many years ago.
